DEVILS LAKE — An inmate has died at the Lake Region Correctional Facility in Devils Lake. According to a Lake Region Correctional Facility statement sent to the media, jail staff became aware of a medical emergency involving an inmate on Monday, Nov. 2. Staff immediately initiated emergency medical response procedures and provided assistance while emergency medical services were contacted, the statement said. ... The circumstances surrounding the medical emergency and subsequent death remain under investigation. The inmate was transported by ambulance to Altru Hospital for medical treatment and died at the hospital. The safety, security and well-being of individuals entrusted to our care remain a priority, the LRCF statement said. We take all medical emergencies seriously and are cooperating fully with the appropriate authorities as they investigate this matter. ]]>
