Understanding health insurance after aging off parents' plans — Velva Health news

FARGO — With open enrollment season starting, many young adults are navigating health insurance on their own for the first time. But getting coverage is only the beginning. Knowing how to actually use it can be another challenge. Now here's a Halloween horror story: You've aged off your parents' insurance, you've got coverage of your own, but figuring out what comes next isn't always easy. "Health insurance and coverage for health care services is an incredibly complicated topic ... and I do think that that, and just recognizing there's often high cost involved with health care services, does cause people to often delay care or not seek care," said Lacey Bergh, market president of Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota. Bergh also says people should start by understanding the deductible, what services are covered, and which doctors are in their network. And while some young people might think they're bulletproof, that doesn't mean they should wait until so
